I bought this dome last year at a garage sale for $2. At that time, I didn't really know what it was, but I did know that I liked it and that it had potential. I haven't used it a whole lot though. Mainly because I wanted to paint the bottom and because I wanted a birds nest to sit in it and I have had NO luck finding one. Since then, my Dad told me that it was a cheese dome....Oh well, I am not using it for cheese. ha!

Well a friend suggested that I get some Spanish moss and make that work as my nest. So that is what I did. I ran to the Dollar Tree yesterday and bought a bag of it and I also picked up a cute little bird there too. I came home and spray painted it black, sanded it down a bit with my sanding block and viola. A whole new look! I added the moss and bird and I just LOVE it! I'm still on the look out for a nest, but this is working just fine for now.
I also bought this frame for $1 a few weeks ago. I knew immediately that I could put it to good use. I had just the project in mind.
While in the Dollar Tree yesterday, my friend, Brandi, also pointed out some stickers that I could use for the project I was telling her about. I would prefer to have vinyl letters, but I don't have a Cricut. :( I have been wanting one for a while now, but I am trying to be patient and save for it. Hopefully sometime this year, I will be able to get me one. So anywho, I bought the page of stickers for a $1 and used them.I started by taking the frame apart, painted the frame black, and once it was dry, I gave it a quick sanding to distress the frame. LOVE how it turned out. :) I then added the stickers to the glass, put the glass back in the frame, added some burlap and closed the frame up. I had a picture easel that I also painted black and I stood it up on that on my bakers rack. I ♥ it!
My next project was by far my favorite this weekend. I liked it SO much that I am giving one away to one of you! Yay!!! A giveaway!
First, please forgive me, b/c I NEVER have during pictures and I am NOT good at giving tutorials. But it is SO simple, I promise!!!
All you need is a vase (or other glass item such as plates, domes, cake plates, etc), decorative gems, & crazy glue (or some kind of glue).
I had this glass vase and I wanted to add a cross to it. I lined up the gems on the counter to get the "look" I was going for. I then put one drop of glue on the gem and placed it on the vase until I had my cross. I suggest you only hand wash. I am not sure how it would hold up in the dishwasher.
I am going to do some more with initials and crosses. The possibilities are endless. This is so easy and such a cute, inexpensive happy to give as a gift.
I added a bamboo plant to mine and put some decorative gems in the bottom of the vase.
Okay. Now the fun part. I want to make one for one of my readers.

aLL YOUR PROJECTS ARE ADORABLE, BUT #2 IS MY fave!!! I've been wanting to try a monogram with cute burlap scrapbook paper, but I haven't found the sticker letters that I want. Your turned out super cute! I don't have a Cricut either.
Love your blog!
i love the frame, too. but the vase is something i may try. i have some left over stones from when we did a path stone for my mother in law for Christmas, and i bought a glue gun the other night (to finish mp's valentine's box), so i could jazz up some vases!!!

Love all your projects. I love your creativeness. My fav is the covered cheese dome with the bird and nest. Too cute! My mother has one of those. I wonder if I could steal hers?

Melanie, thanks for stopping in at my blog this morning. I just had to return the visit and so glad I did. Love all your little goodies you worked on this weekend. You did such a great job with all of them. I love the picture frame, I am going to have to make myself one of those.
I pulled out my trusty black paint again last week. First time in awhile. I will be posting some before and after shots soon of them.
Hope you have a blessed Monday.
