February Photo A Day Challenge

Have you heard of Instagram?! It is the new Facebook! Well, to me it is.

Instagram is very similar to Facebook only you upload and share photos. You can follow people and people will follow you. If you haven't heard of it, you really need to check it out. You can follow also follow me on Instagram daily under the name "meltales" :o)
Fatmumslim created a photo a day challenge for this year. I missed out in January, but I jumped in and started for February. Below is the daily photo challenges.

Shelley @ The House of Smiths started a linky party for everyone to share their monthly challenges. Here are my February photos.

Life has been good this month. We have not been too busy, but busy enough. We've had a mild winter. Spring has been giving us some major teasers. ABS went to her 1st dance...with her daddy, we had a happy Valentines Day, and Andrew and I finished off the month doing a 5K.
I hope you all have had a happy February!

Below is the March Photo A Day Challenge if you want to jump on board! Let me know if you do! I'd love to follow you!

DIY Sisal Lamp Shade

I've been wanting to do something with the lamp in my foyer for a while. I love the lamp and the shape of the shade, but it was just blah...

I made a slipcover for it, but I didn't love it either. I decided I wanted something neutral, but different.
I thought about doing a twine lamp, but figured something thicker would work better...So Wade and I picked up a roll of Sisal while at Wal-mart last week. You can find Sisal in the hardware section and it was less than $5 for a roll of 50 feet.

Grab your glue gun and several glue sticks and get to work! This project was so easy!

Start by adding a thin line of glue to the bottom of the shade and then place one end of the rope into the glue. Start wrapping around the shade, just gluing here and there. Do this until your shade is completely covered.
Easy and cheap!!! These type of updates are my favorite!
This project made a huge difference in my foyer! I am loving the new look!!!

As you can see, I have started spring and Easter decorating! :o)

Healthy Me

I didn't really set any resolutions this year. Only because most people set them and then fail within the first month. I did, however, set out on a lifestyle change. I am focused on one word. HEALTHY.

Not a diet. A lifestyle. With me being 4'10, I know weight is always going to be my biggest battle.

At the great ole age of 33, I have started to feel old, always tired, my cholesterol levels are elevated, my knees hurt, etc....I decided I wanted CHANGE! And I have come to the realization that I am the ONLY one that can do anything about it.

I think it's natural for everyone to want to "LOOK" good, but I just don't want to look good. I want to feel good. I want to have energy. I want to like to exercise. I simply want a healthy me.

I have said for years and years that I was going to shed the weight, blah, blah, blah. Still hasn't happened. My mind has not been set. It is now!

At the first of January, I started to learn how to eat. I eat whatever I want, but I count my calories. I try to stay around 1220 calories per day. That is NOT a lot so I have had to learn what to eat. I can tell you, it has helped me out tremendously. I am learning what I can omit to save calories and what I can order when dining out.

On January 31st, I started exercising. I am walking a few miles a day and trying to learn to jog.
I am in my 5th week of exercising and I feel great.

Saturday, Andrew and I did a 5k. I am not running yet, but hope to be in a few months.
It was a hard course, but I did it! :o)

Andrew came in 1st place in his age division.

I am quickly learning the saying, "no pain, no gain."

Valentines Day

I was thinking back on some of the things my mom did for me and my brothers growing up and I remembered the heart doorway. One Valentines morning, we woke up to conversation hearts made out of construction paper hanging in our bedroom doorways. She was such a sweet and thoughtful mom.

I decided to do that this year for the kids. So on Valentines Eve after everyone went to bed, I cut out construction paper hearts, wrote little messages on them and hung them with yarn from the hallway doorway.

They were so surprised the next morning! Even though they are older now, they still act like little kids on a holiday....or any other day. :o)

Wade and I made each of them a little bucket full of junk.

And thanks to Pinterest, I made these adorable heart cinnamon rolls for breakfast.
They were easy peasy. I used canned cinnamon rolls and unrolled them. Then just form them into a heart and bake as directed on the package.

I think we all enjoyed this day of LOVE.

It's my party and I'll cry if I want to....

Saturday, ABS and I made a quick trip to my hometown to attend a special birthday party. My niece, Reagan, turned 3!

I have never seen a child not like a camera as much as Reagan. She is precious and has the sweetest long as she doesn't see a camera. Every. single. time. I pulled out my camera, this is what I got!!!
I probably took 300 + photos at the party and NOT ONE picture was she looking at me smiling. UGH! :o)

I finally got her laughing and cutting up by showing her how to blow the birthday blowers. She got a kick out of it!

She wanted a Dora party. She LOVES Dora the Explorer.
Now, don't start singing Happy Birthday to her.....She didn't like that either. She finally perked up a bit, and I got a few sweet pictures of her with her cake.
She didn't want to blow out her candles, but once it was all said and done, she decided that she wanted to....So Gran Gran put her candles in her ice cream and let her blow them out.

ABS and Rylee having fun! Sweet cousins!
Last year, Dad took Reagan outside and let her birthday balloons fly away. She LOVED letting them go one by one. She got a BIG kick out of it. She would wave bye to each balloon.

So this year, we did them same thing after her party and she had both of her grandads joining in on the fun with her! I feel this is another tradition we'll do each year ;o) Who wants all those birthday balloons after the party anyway? My kids would just get on my nerves with balloons...ha!

Daddy/Daughter Dance

Annah Brooke went to her first of probably many dances Friday night. It was a daddy/daughter Princess Ball. Our town started this last year and I didn't know about it until the last minute. She had not asked to go so I didn't think much of it. Well, this year was a bit different. The minute they started advertising it, she came home from school telling me she wanted to go. She was so very excited!!

Sweet Ashley came over and did her hair for me. ABS LOVED getting all the attention and the spot light on her the whole night. My friend, Cathy, had the perfect little dainty earrings and necklace that ABS wore. She really did not want to return them! ha!!

Once she was all dressed, her daddy surprised her with a corsage. That really made her feel special!

Our Princess all dressed up and ready to go!
I have to admit, I fell in love with this man all over again watching him with her. It was the sweetest thing ever! Before they left, they practiced slow dancing, he opened the door for her, and he just really made her night special.

She was ready to go!
The only thing I didn't like was that I couldn't be there to take pictures! ha! Imagine that.
Someone did get this picture and posted it on Facebook.
This was right when they got there. The walked in on red carpet and was greeted by the Mayor.
They had a blast. He even took her to dinner afterwards....her choice was McDonald's.... ha!
She is already talking about next year!
